The Kansas City skidded by the 3-11 New England Patriots in Foxborough on Sunday to advance the Chiefs record to 9-5 on the season. Despite sitting atop the AFC West through week 15, there has clearly been a slight super bowl hangover for entire squad. The defense has taken a major step back, tight end Travis Kelce is on pace to finish with over 200 less receiving yards and six touchdowns this season compared to last, and the Chiefs lack a true WR1 with no wide receiver ranking in the top 35 of receiving yards.
But perhaps the most important question of all: What is going on with Patrick Mahomes? The reigning Super Bowl MVP has thrown more interceptions this season with three games remaining than he did all of last year. Not to mention, his 25 passing touchdowns through week 15 compared to 35 at this time last season. Many have contributed his sharp decline in both rating and QBR this season to the subpar play of his wide receivers and health of All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce. But is that all?
Brandon and I dug further into the former MVP's play this season along with some advanced statistics earlier today on In The Zone. Check out the full segment at the podcast linked below.
