Last Minute Waivers Moves Ahead of Week 9 for Your Fantasy Team

Welcome back, playoffs are approaching, stars are coming back from injury, it’s a good time to be a fantasy owner whose not 2-6. Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re already in contention in your league, let’s chase that gold my friends.

QB:

Derek Carr/Drew Lock- Lock feels obvious, in fact, if you needed a QB when waivers ran on Tues. night, he was probably your go-to. If not, go get him. The Falcons are dreadful against the pass, don’t let their Thursday night game against the Panthers fool you. Plus, Lock has a bevy of options that will help keep his numbers in startable QB range. If he’s not available, go after Derek Carr. Carr can be tough to trust, but his matchup is sneaky good, the Chargers allow the 4th most points to the QB position.

RB:

Jordan Wilkins- Another one that might potentially be sitting out there on your waiver wire, he doesn’t carry the name recognition of his counterpart, Jonathan Taylor…but, and it pains me to say this, he’s been much better. Last week, Wilkins was over 80 yards on 20 carries (Taylor only had 11), and get this: Wilkins forced five missed tackles in that game, bringing his total to 18 on the season — Taylor hasn’t forced a missed tackle since Week 3.

Jordan Howard- Maybe the least exciting fantasy option of all-time, but he basically has the backfield to himself. Gaskin, out. Breida, out. He should be able to punch one in for a TD. Side note, if you’re really desperate, target Patrick Laird who figures to get some work as well for the Phins.

WR:

Dez Bryant- Why not, I’m not a huge believer, but the Ravens need help at wide receiver, and with him activated off the practice squad, it looks like he’ll get a chance to play. Don’t go crazy and start him, but he’s worth a speculative add if you have space.

Marvin Hall- Here’s your option if you need someone for today. Hall balled out last week, 4 catches for 113 yards. Good news is, Matt Stafford was activated from the COVID list, so no drop off in QB play. Marvin Jones will be the chain mover and the red-zone guy, along with TJ Hockensen, but it’s Hall who could play a big role in the deep passing game. He’s averaging an absurd 28.3 yards per route run on the season.

TE:

Jordan Akins- Texans TE (UCF product) got off to a great start this year and then tailed off, he’s back from his concussion issues and draws a great matchup against the Jags.

Albert Okwuegbunam- Don’t ask me to say that twice. At least 6 points each of the last 3 weeks. Falcons, league worst vs TE’s. Need a TE, he won’t get your zero, I promise.

DST:

Dolphins- Bold move, terrible matchup, but they have quietly been a top 5 defense the last 4 weeks. 2 defensive TD’s last week, 12 turnovers claimed on the season.
