UCF QB Darriel Mack Jr. Breaks Ankle in Non-Football Related Injury

UCF's redshirt sophomore QB Darriel Mack Jr. broke his ankle in a non-football related injury according to a statement made by Head Coach Josh Heupel.

“Quarterback Darriel Mack Jr. suffered a broken ankle from non-football related activity this week and there is no specific timetable for his return. He will not be available for training camp. We hope Darriel has a speedy recovery, but we are excited about the talent we have in the quarterback room to start the season.”

Mack Jr. was a backup for McKenzie Milton but became the starter once Milton went down with an injury. He was in the middle of a quarterback battle between himself and graduate transfer Brandon Wimbush.
