Kravitz: Attacking the Week 5 Waiver Wire

Not the greatest week for the waiver wire but definitely some interesting names to keep an eye on as you look to improve your fantasy roster! Here's a name or 2 per position:

QB- 2 really good streaming options this week…Sam Howell going up against the Bears and Zach Wilson facing the Broncos…pretty simple here, these teams are #1 and #2 in terms of points given up to the QB position. Howell had a nice bounce back after the Bills demolished him…and Zach Wilson showed some real signs of life.

RB- Jaleel McLaughlin- Somehow owned in 2% of leagues…would love to know who is in these leagues. McLaughlin looked like the most explosive RB in the broncos backfield and this is a team struggling to find life anywhere. Sean Payton is not messing around anymore…10 total touches last week, but he made the most of it – 104 yards and a score. You have to take players like this seriously, especially when the waiver wire is baron.

Outside of him…this is your weekly reminder to grab your handcuffs. When there aren’t those obvious options out there – I think it allows some space to plan for the future.

WR- Its not every week the Cardinals are going to throw the ball 41 times…but they will be in numerous negative game scripts…and that benefits Cardinals wideouts…most notably, Michael Wilson, the new kid on the block. Even with Hollywood Brown and Zach Ertz gobbling up 20 targets between them on Sunday, Wilson still finished with 7 caches 76 yards and 2 touchdowns. And he’s not coming out of nowhere…there was a lot of preseason hype around this guy as a 3rd round pick who shined in camp.

This is now 2 weeks in a row that Michael Gallup has led the Dallas cowboys in receptions…apparently Brandin Cooks is just window dressing, because he has been invisible…but Gallup has looked really good, Dak trusts him…my 2nd favorite receiver on waivers.

TE- Dalton Schultz- Strictly based on the rising tide lifts all boats theory…the Texans offense is humming right now, so I want pieces of it. Schultz got cooking for the first time this year, perhaps he’s able to build off of it. 3 catches 42 yards and a score…hard to get excited about TE’s…especially those available in over 50% of leagues…but Bobby Slowik does come from a 49ers system that used the hell out of George kittle…

In deeper leagues, Kylen Granson of the Colts is a guy that’s gotten 4 targets in every game this season – and he’s used in big moments, so he’s clearly part of the hierarchy in that colts pass game – just hasn’t blown up yet. Just a guy to put on your radar.

DST- Lions…been getting after the passer with Aiden Hutchinson…they take on a panthers team that appears allergic to the end zone…so that should be a layup.
