All the way through the draft process, I had my eyes on where these 2 phenomenal running back talents would land. Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs are game breaking, smart runners, with every tool in the tool box @ the position. Assuming they landed in the right spots, we were looking at a RB class that added depth to fantasy football like we haven't seen since 2017. The '17 class was comprised of Leonard Fournette (fantasy star immediately), Christian McCaffrey (still a star), Dalvin Cook (waning star), Joe Mixon (work in progress), and Kareem Hunt (had his day in the sun). Those guys were instant must-adds to the old fantasy draft que after they went to their respective teams. This year, we get to do it all over again and then some.
I don't think I'm overstating this when I say both will be fantasy stars year 1 with Atlanta and Detroit, I think Bijan should be a first-round pick immediately and Gibbs should go no later than late round 2. Here's my write up on what we saw last night via Rotowire.com
Bijan Robinson was the first running back off the board, as expected, he went to the run heavy atlanta falcons…really a dream scenario if you were someone hoping to grab him early in seasonal leagues…he was likely going to be 1.01 in dynasty no matter where he fell. The Falcons led the NFL in rush attempts last season with 559…a heavy workload is on the way for Bijan. Rotowire consensus already has him as RB9 in PPR.
Jahmyr Gibbs was the next RB off the board, he went earlier than expected and to a team with plenty of backs on the roster…the lions took him with the 12th pick in round 1…this is a strong indication that the team might be moving off of DeAndre swift…they brought David Montgomery in via free-agency…swift and gibbs do a lot of the same things on the field – Gibbs is a younger, healthier, faster version though…DeAndre swift has played 3 seasons in the NFL and has yet to play more than 14 games…that has to be a factor in the Lions decision to go RB. There are a number of teams in the NFL that could use an upgrade @ RB…the Bills, Dolphins, Cardinals, and Chiefs come to mind…Maybe even the Eagles. It’ll be interesting to see if and when DeAndre swift lands on another roster.
