Kravitz Ranks His Top 5 (Non-CFB Playoff) Bowl Games

Tuesday rankings time!...And with Bowl Season in full effect, I thought I’d comb through the top bowl games that have me all amped up this holiday season. Leaving the CFB Playoff semi-final/championship out of it because I don’t consider those true-blue “bowl games”. Bowl games are filler TV with no real implications that I can mindlessly watch as a football fan, totally different experience.

5- Penn State vs Utah Rose Bowl, January 2nd- Hard not to love the Rose Bowl, all the pagentry and elegance you want with some good football from power brands mixed in. Penn State and Utah should matchup really well too, both are solid defensively but make enough plays on offense with Cam Rising vs Sean Clifford to keep this one entertaining. Spread is Utah -2.5 with an O/U of 52, so that sort of tells the story of what this game SHOULD look like.

4- Oregon vs UNC Holiday Bowl, December 28th- If you like good QB play, you’ll love this one. Bo Nix was sensational this year for the Ducks and Drake Maye is likely going to be a top 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Both offenses rank top 15 in the nation so expect some fireworks in this one with zero defense played on either side.

3- Tulane vs USC Cotton Bowl, January 2nd- This is the game UCF should’ve been in. So pardon me if I’m not too thrilled about the way this turned out, however, I know a good game when I see one. USC of course, comes in with all the hype of a big-powerful national brand with the Heisman winning Caleb Williams @ QB (who is supposed to play amid a hammy injury) vs little ole Tulane. Tulane’s a really good football team, I think they keep it interesting. Curious to see how these 2 matchup.

2- Bama vs Kansas State Sugar Bowl, December 31st- Kansas State became my favorite CFB team to watch down the stretch of the season, they played some dominant football, and even won the Big 12 there at the end. Alabama’s been rough around the edges by their standard, but, they’ve been in so many entertaining games this season. Bryce Young is playing, so this is still a Bama team that’s pretty checked in for this one. I love this matchup.

Number 1! FSU vs Oklahoma Cheez-It Bowl, December 29th- This is it right here. FSU has been on a run as of late and they get to cap off a pretty fun season with a potential win vs OU. Dillon Gabriel comes back to Central Florida for 1 last time. The story lines are plush, the brands are massive, and its right here in our back yard.
