We are walking into the best part of the year. All sports season. That's when we've basically got our pick of it all. Seriously ALL of it.
By the end of next month you'll be able to choose if you want to watch or go to see.. The NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, NCAA (football and basketball), PGA, WTA, UFC, WWE, WNBA, NASCAR, ECHL, G-League, all of it!!
With all that on the horizon and with everything going on right now, "America's favorite pastime" can easily get overlooked. So just in case you haven't been paying attention here is a super quick roundup of what's going on in MLB.
If the season ended today
- AL Wild Card Game: Blue Jays vs. Yankees
- NL Wild Card Game:Dodgersvs. Cardinals
- ALDS:Astros vs. White Sox
- ALDS:Raysvs. AL Wild Card Game winner
- NLDS: Brewers vs.Braves
- NLDS:Giantsvs. NL Wild Card Game winner
In the American League, Boston is tied with Toronto and the Yankees for the last Wild Card spot, but The Blue Jays and Yanks own the tie breaker there. Seattle and Oakland are both about 3 games back from the Red Sox, and with the way all teams are playing right now (especially the Blue Jays) 3 games is a LOT of ground to cover.
With about 15 games to go, we'll see if either the A's or the Mariners can heat up this race.
Meanwhile in the National League, things are much tighter.
St. Louis has a half game lead over the Reds, and a single game lead over the Padres, with the Phillies 3 games back. This is almost certain to get SUPER interesting in the coming weeks.
Cincinnati has the Pirates (stinker) and the Nationals (stinker) left to play. But who else is on their schedule? Two powerhouses.. the Dodgers and the White Sox!
Yikes!
On the other hand, some are already counting the Padres out BECAUSE of their schedule. Three series' with the Giants, the Dodgers and Cardinals on the road, and then the Braves at home!
TRIPLE YIKES!
