Bowl Game Season Feels Different

Is it just me or does Bowl season feel a little different this year? And no I'm not talking about because of COVID, or maybe it is. But something's... off. Or at least for me. Maybe I'm getting old, but I catch myself not even realizing bowl games are on. I forget which game is next. I don't remember who's playing in what game.

And I'm not talking about for the Lending Tree Bowl. I'm talking about the heavy hitters, Gator Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Cotton Bowl, (okay I know who's playing in the cotton bowl). But it's just been off my radar this year.

Maybe it is because of COVID. Maybe like me you're just fatigued and still not sure of what's going on around you as we close out this year. And with 11 cancelled bowl games... (Bahamas Bowl, Celebration Bowl, Fenway Bowl, Hawaii Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Vegas Bowl, Los Angeles Bowl, Pinstripe Bowl, Quick Lane Bowl, Redbox Bowl, and Sun Bowl) it's no wonder things feel different.

I'm guessing things will shift after today. Today is the CheezIt Bowl with Miami taking on Oklahoma State. Maybe all I need is some competition I care about to fill my veins. But with players opting out more and more, bowl games being cancelled, this bowl season almost feels like a series of not-so-all-star games packed into a two week timeframe.

Or, is it that because of the college football playoff? Knowing that there are only three games that matter in the grand scheme of things, I really just don't care about the other bowl games as much as I used to, since they don't count for much.

I'm gonna have to fix this! We have to enjoy all the football we can before it's gone in the next couple months!!

Guess we'll see if I get my juice back.
