First transgender male boxer wins in debut

Patricio Manuel became the first transgender male professional boxer in U.S. history won his debut by unanimous decision. The 33 year old Manuel defeated Hugo Aguilar in the 128-pound super featherweight division.

“It’s a high right now,” said Manuel, 33. “I’m just really happy. This is the definition of true happiness in this moment.”

The bout was promoted by Oscar De la Hoya's Golden Boy promotions Saturday night, Dec. 8, 2018, at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
