Hurricane Irma Public Safety Warnings from Winter Park

ALL LAKES ARE CLOSED

Due to elevated bacteria counts, downed power lines, and high water levels, all city lakes are unsafe for public use and are closed.

Boating, swimming and recreational activities are prohibited.

WATER

Current Boil Water Alerts:

Gilbert Road between Cady Way and Will O The Green Street

Park North (east of Raintree)

Clay Street by Oglesby Avenue

All residents within these alert areas were notified via door hangers.

Keep water usage to a minimum. If you filled your bathtubs, do NOT drain them yet as this will only add to further overwhelming the sewer system.

Use water very sparingly.

TREE DEBRIS

Please do NOT place tree debris anywhere near storm drains or block gutters. This can cause drainage issues when the next rain arrives.

Please do NOT place debris in the street or block sidewalks. Blocking streets will make it difficult for the passage of emergency vehicles, cleanup crews and street sweepers.

Place debris piles behind the curb.

GENERATOR WARNINGS

Do NOT place generators in your garage or home. They must be placed outdoors away from anything that can pull the fumes with carbon monoxide into your home.

Carbon monoxide is deadly and has already been the cause of several deaths in Orange County.

Signs of carbon monoxide poisoning include headache, nausea, weakness, abdominal pain, and dizziness. If you believe you may have symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, get outside of the home or building immediately can then seek rapid medical attention.
